TIP: Organizing Your Finances
Minding your money is crucial for peace of mind
It's no secret that money is a scary subject for actors. In this profession the income is inconsistent and the expenses are high. But, there are key ways to keep your acting career in the black without feel strapped for cash for other things. Here's what to do. Open a separate checking or savings account just for your acting career. Every time you get paid from your dayjob, put 10% of your paycheck into your show biz account. When you get paid on an acting job, put 20% of your paycheck in your show biz account. This will keep your account growing so when it is time to purchase new headshots or take a class, you've got the money waiting for you!
If you're fearful you can't spare that 10%, try cutting out some coffee lattes, pinkberry's and water bottles. You'll be shocked at how quickly the money adds up!
